The Venue
The site is based around Gidleigh Village Hall, near Chagford on Dartmoor. It is lush, you will love it.
We are camping in the adjacent field to the hall with access to all the halls facilities through out the day and night. The hall itself provides both indoor and outdoor practice space with stunning views of the lush countryside. It has a full kitchen, shower and toilets. There is a small car park available, as well as a campfire site for a relaxing evening under the stars!
Gidleigh is a remote and picturesque village on the eastern edge of Dartmoor National Park. It has a fine 15th century granite church and the remains of a 13th Century Castle. It is surrounded by superb wooded countryside which gives way to the vast expanse of the high moor at Kes Tor. Just south west of here is the famous Scorhill stone circle (where last year we met a real Druid), Chagford common, and Fernworthy forest. The nearby river Dart is really nice too. Two miles to the east lies the ancient stannary town of Chagford. This is ideal countryside for a ramble through unspoilt leafy lanes or finding a quiet spot for personal chilling.
We aim to run an interesting and fun camp for all concerned and aim to provide a good community atmosphere throughout the camp. Therefore respectfully we ask that everyone booking on the camp abides by the following ground rules:
- Please treat the site, its facilities and other campers, their belongings and personal space respectfully.
- No dogs alcohol or illegal drugs are permitted on the site.
- Children are welcome but remain the responsibility of their parents at all times throughout the camp. Children are also asked to abide by the ground rules.
- We ask that people stay for the duration of the camp. (Everyone is; of course, welcome to leave the site to explore during free time).
- Cooking and cleaning will be supervised but everyone will be expected to help out on a rota basis. Everyone helping with the cooking will be expected to abide by basic hygiene rules.
- All food will be vegetarian, all meals will be provided
- No unaccompanied children under 18.
The camp begins on Friday afternoon (3-6pm) and finishes on the Monday at 3pm.
